Judith Avers: A few favorites
- Josh Ritter
- I love his songwriting and the integrity and respect he demonstrates with his fans. (Plus, when I opened for him he was 100% respectful and as kind behind the scenes as he is on stage.)
- High Rocks-A leadership program for girls
- Wanna get involved? This is the organization I have worked closely with for the past 4 years. They really do live their motto. They educate, empower, and inspire. I am proud to be a part of this fine non-profit. If you would like to see some of our projects or see how you can help teens in West Virginia, please click on the link. Thank you!
- Katie Sawicki
- My friend and fellow singer/songwriter. Katie is an amazing musician and person. Her album, Time Spent Lost, was one of my most played last year.
- Chris Pureka
- Gotta love me some Chris. She is in the middle of making a new album and I cannot wait.
- Ray Lamontagne
- This man sure can sing...
- Gillian Welch and David Rawlings
- A favorite of mine for years. I'm still waiting for them to decide to be friends with me. We could sit outside and play old songs while sipping something cool...
- Martha Scanlan
- One of my favorite finds ever. She is perfection.
- Hostbaby
- If you are not technically inclined and need web help...check them out. If I can do it, anyone can. Plus, it is so nice to be 100% in charge of my own site. Thank you, Hostbaby.
- Jack Redell
- My beautiful friend and talented fellow songwriter. A great writer, person and singer. He is my musical brother and I love him.
- Kristen Gass
- Painfully good.
- Cat Stevens/Yusuf
- I love that he writes whatever he wants and doesn't worry about "toughening" it up in any way. What's more goofy...spending your time trying to make your music more "edgy" or just saying what you mean?
- Jay Farrar
- I've loved his writing since I first heard his band "Uncle Tupelo" 17 years ago. He's with "Sunvolt" now. A favorite.
- James McMurtry
- This guy just kicks a@$. Once, I went to get his autograph for a friend, about 15 years ago or so, and just as it was my turn in line, I slipped on the hem of my hippie-overalls and fell down right in front of him...at his feet. He politely helped me up and I politely proceeded to the car with my pride in my back pocket.
- Jen Korte and the Loss
- One to watch, I tell you, one to watch.
- Kate Rusby
- Such a beautiful singer and writer! Every time I hear her, I decide to quit writing music. Why bother?
- Tom Waits
- Come on. You don't need me to tell you why.
- Ellis
- A beautiful and brave songwriter that I was listening to a lot when I made "Mountain and Shore"
- Ani Difranco
- A poet and a woman who taught me to take more time with my lyrics. Plus, Anais Mitchell is on this label, too and she is fantastic.
- Judith Avers Myspace
- This cool girl I know.
- Tom Petty
- Because he rocks it!!!
- The Lonesome Brothers
- My friend Jim Armenti's band! : )
- The Jayhawks
- Who can harmonize like these guys? Love them.
- Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem
- You cannot listen to them without feeling better about the world. Plus, Anand is in the band and he kicks ass.
- The Counting Crows
- I love birds who know their numbers.
- Bob Dylan
- He's an old friend of mine. No, really...we're tight.
- Elton John
- He's great. And besides, he can kick all of our asses if we're not careful.
- Joni Mitchell
- She told me, over coffee, that I better include her link on here. She's such a riot! (For those of you who take me too seriously, we weren't drinking coffee together. It was tea.)
- Neil Young
- Neil, your subconscious called...it wants us to go on the road together. Any road, really.
- Patty Griffin
- I saw her play in Denver once and I actually had to LEAVE. It was so overwhelming. My favorite music is the music that makes me physically unable to listen anymore. Does that make sense??
- Andrea Gibson- Poet
Two words: love her
Four more words: and everything she does.

So true. Mary's music made me listen to other folks a lot differently. It takes a rare bird to do that.
