"her piano is sweet, her vocals spot on" - Pittsburgh City Paper
With three albums under her belt, tonight's concert will explore new material and arrangements in preparation for her fourth CD. Randall Venturini (Crisis Car, Souled Out, Dave Harger Group) on bass, Mark Weakland (The Newlanders, Mountain Playhouse Theatre) on drums, Keith Hershberger on guitar, and Juan Vasquez on lead guitar, will join her.
Come early to hear special guest, and recent Pittsburgh transplant, Judith Avers, whose voice reminds one of Catie Curtis and Gillian Welch, and whose music gently rocks you like a porch swing to the heart of the matter. Not to be missed!
p.s. plus it's Heather's first band show after a milestone birthday, so it's kinda like a birthday party, and maybe she'll bring cake and stuff....

Nettle Cook-off guidelines
There’s more to a nettle plant than its sting. Did you know that cooked stinging nettles are not only tasty, but rich in iron, calcium and folic acid? Have you heard that nettles can cure anemia, eczema, baldness, malcontent, boredom, and hunger? Well, it’s probably mostly true!
To celebrate the hidden wonders of the stinging nettle, we invite you to pull on some gloves, snip a bagful of the youngest leaves, cook up an original delicacy and bring it to Nettle Fest. Brave and hungry judges will award fame and prizes to the chef with the best nettle recipe! Read the Nettle Cook-off guidelines below for more details.
· See poem below or wear gloves for safe handling.
· Gather nettles in an inconspicuous, sustainable manner. (No more than 10% of the plants in an area)
· Cook up something at home with nettle as a significant ingredient.
· Bring it in a covered dish with your name taped to the bottom to Nettle Fest by 2pm.
"Tender-handed stroke a nettle,
And it stings you for your pains;
Grasp it like a man [or woman] of mettle,
And it soft as silk remains."
-Aaron Hill, early 18th century, Scotland

Tristan Prettyman
Since emerging on the California club scene just a few short years ago, singer/songwriter and guitarist Tristan Prettyman has been acclaimed as one of today’s most remarkable new artists. With laid-back melodies springing from finger-picked acoustic guitar and plaintive pedal-steel guitar, she explores her love of country-blues and folk from the ’60s and ’70s, artists like The Band, Joni Mitchell, and Bob Dylan. Rolling Stone calls Prettyman “one of the more promising young pop folkies.”

So be sure to bring a blanket and your whole brood- it's going to be a blast!

Recording Begins!!!
This will mark the first day of recording for the new album. I plan on driving to Massachusetts and staying until the record is done. We will be working very hard to get things done as quickly and beautifully as possible. A big benefit of this is to keep costs down and to put a little pressure on me (the good kind) to not be so critical. I get a little tense during recording sessions, so put good juju out, okay?
